Yeppen Floodplain Project – TMR

Description of project scope:

The John Holland Yeppen Flood Plain project consisted of an extensive project scope including; the construction of a 1.8km Bridge Structure, extensive abutments, roadways, drainage structures, rip-rap rock protection, construction of a precast bridge girder factory, extensive footings, pavement works, kerbing, stabilisation works and rehabilitation works.

This project was quite extensive with the overall outcome to flood proof Rockhampton as it was constructed on the Yeppen Flood Plains of Rockhampton.  This project allowed access from the south when the town would otherwise be cutoff.

We provided majority of the wet hire plant to deliver this project to the satisfaction of the client 

Construct Storm Water Diversion – Yeppoon Landfill

Description of project scope:

Waterway Remediation and drainage project on a landfill site.

Project managed and utilised our team to complete all works on this project.  Project involved rectification and construction of a 740 meter long diversion channel to the north of the site through a hill encountering large quantities of rock material, as well as the construction of a 1200 meter long diversion wall to the north and east of the site to divert water from site which previously was causing environmental issues.  There was also extensive rehabilitation works onsite.

Majority of cut and fill on site was in excess of 3 meters.

The design specification was exceeded and the project was delivered during the wet season beyond the clients standards and expectations for the project. 

Road and Drainage Restoration Work under NDRRA  – Rockhampton Regional Council

Description of project scope:

The Golding’s Urban NDRRA project consisted of an extensive project scope resulting from damages incurred during cyclone Marcia, these works including; road reconstruction works, road stabilisation, road widening, drainage works including installation of culverts and rehabilitation of existing structures, bulk excavation and haulage, extensive quantities of rip-rap installation betterment works, extensive rehabilitation and betterment works.

This project was quite extensive with the overall outcome to fix the extensive damage cause that was left to extensive amounts of infrastructure after cyclone Marcia.

We provided all the wet hire plant to deliver this project to the satisfaction of the client.

 Central Highlands Regional Council Road Repairs

Description of project scope:

Construction of roadside drainage via the removal of road side spoil and shaping over 10 km including the rehabilitation of road infrastructure.

Project managed and utilised our team to complete all works on this project. Works involved the construction of drainage structures both sides on a 10 km stretch of rural roads so that the road could be upgraded to a sealed road with improved wet season access capabilities.  The road structure also was improved via rehabilitation works.  

The design specification was exceeded and the project was delivered to exceed the clients standards.

 Yeppen Floodplain Project Stage 1 – TMR

Description of project scope:

The Fulton Hogan Yeppen Flood Plain project consisted of an extensive project scope including; the construction of an approximate 600m Bridge Structure, extensive abutments, roadways including full reconstruction and raising of connection roads and the entrance roundabout to Rockhampton, extensive list of drainage structures including box culverts, pipes and other drainage infrastructure, rip-rap rock protection, extensive footings, pavement works, kerbing, stabilisation works and rehabilitation works.

This project was quite extensive with the overall outcome to decrease traffic delays entering and leaving Rockhampton as the original infrastructure was insignificant, as well as forming as first stage to the planned flood proofing of Rockhampton.

We provided all of the wet hire plant to deliver this project to the satisfaction of the client. 

Kershaw Gardens Drainage Works

Description of project scope:

Water way Remediation Project on an ex landfill site/ public park.

Project managed and utilised our team to complete all works onsite. Works involved the installation to design multiple culverts of dual 900 RCPs and precast head walls.   Scour protection works (including supply of geofabric and rip-rap rock).  Installation of multiple large wetland overflow Rock Weirs as per design.  Reinforced turf installed on weirs.  Clay lining of the wetland area as per design details and obtainment of relevant compaction and moisture content requirements.

The design specification was exceeded and the project was delivered to exceed the clients standards.

Rocklands to Stanwell Railway Duplication – Queensland Railway

Description of project scope:

The Leighton Rocklands to Stanwell Duplication project consisted of a complex project scope including; the construction of three rail bridges at Burnett Highway, Four Mile Creek and Neerkol Creek, as well as the duplication of 18 km of rail formations, a large variety of large drainage structures of all types, a large range of rehabilitation works all whilst being completed on major flood plains of Rockhampton.

We provided majority of the wet hire plant to deliver this project to the satisfaction of the client.

 

Rectification Ground Works – Rockhampton Regional Council Cricket Grounds

Description of project scope:

Cricket oval remediation project.

Project managed and utilised our team to complete all works on this project.  Works involved the stripping of the existing surface, levelling of the field to design and import of turf underlay and then the turfing of the entire playing surface in excess of 20,000 m2 to meet Australian Sporting Field Design Standards.  Including removal and installation of irrigation system, fixing of drainage problems onsite and the full contracted maintenance of the field for a 6 month period till handover. 

The design specification was exceeded and the project was delivered during the wet season beyond the clients standards and expectations for the project.

Security Fence Upgrade – Woorabinda Police Station

Description of project scope:

Construction of a chain wire and razor wire fenced compound to bring the Woorabinda police station to the standard required.

Project managed and utilised our team to complete all works on this project.  Works involved the removal of the current fencing that did not meet the standard and replacement with suitable fencing, including concrete nib footings, bottom, centre and top rail, razor wire top strands and related site works.

The design specification was exceeded and the project was delivered  beyond the clients standards and expectations for the project.

Rectification of Pavement Failures – Dorley Street, Rockhampton

Description of project scope:

The DTMR project involved the rectification of pavement failures completed on a busy road joining Rockhampton and Emu Park Road, with all works being performed at night. Actual completed works consisting of Profile depths of 50mm & 100mm, Tack, seal and asphalt works, Line marking, QR track entry approvals and Bus stop relocation.

Works adjacent to QR corridor so all precautions & clearances followed. Moderately complex worksite traffic management plan was utilised.

 Cyclone Damage Restoration – Central Highland Regional Council

October 2019 to May 2020

Location:

Central and eastern portions of Central Highland Regional Council’s geographical area.

Description of project scope:

The project sites ranged 80km north, 200km south, 50km west and 80km east of Dingo, QLD. The works were to restore damaged assets to the original condition prior to the Cyclone event that caused the damage.

Bellequip had the largest contracted package of this project undertaken by CHRC and Shepherds services. We were able to complete the project with no NCR’s and more than a month ahead of schedule or 6 weeks ahead of contracted pc date, therefore we were allocated more work sites by the client and we still obtained PC two weeks before the contracted PC date.

Works consisted of Gravel Re-sheeting, Heavy & Medium Formation Grading, imported bulk fill. Rock protection and patch repairs. Reshaping of Table Drains, full reconstruction of sealed Roads and resurfacing of sealed roads, replace guideposts and depth markers, replacement of drainage structure components (headwalls and RCP’s), Grouted Rock Pitching, Surface reinstatement, Clearing of silt and debris internally from culverts and pipe.

Contract figures

  • In excess of 80,000 tonne of unsealed ARRB specified gravel placed,
  • In excess of 32km of type a subgrade treatment,
  • In excess of 200m3 of cut to spoil,
  • In excess of 140km of heavy/medium formation grading and Re-sheeting,
  • In excess of 200m lineal of road reconstruction and sealing works,

Bellequip complete the works with no NCR’s or failure’s recorded.

Cedric Archer Park BMX Pump Track – Rockhampton Regional Council

Cedric Archer Park BMX Pump Track

Description of project scope:

Rockhampton Regional Council engaged Bellequip to construct one of Australia’s largest BMX asphalt pump track, including 111 rollers and 24 berms. Works had to meet the specific requirements to ensure the track would allow for the pumping motion of a BMX bike.

Earthworks included clearing and grub, bulk earthworks and then the construction of compacted berms and rollers. 22 pits and a stormwater filtration system installed. All asphalt had to be hand placed as no surfaces where flat and berms where up to 70° incline. The entire track was edged with concrete plus footpaths and shelter slabs laid. 7 separate sections made up the irrigation network. And finally, the landscaping and construction of picnic tables & shelters for the patrons.

Bajool Explosive Reserve Access Road & Drainage Upgrade – TMR-Roadtek

Description of project scope:

The TMR-Roadtek project consisted of access road and drainage upgrade at the Bajool Explosives Reserve. Bellequip provided almost all plant, machinery, and personnel for the project with the only outsourced labour being a Roadtek Construction superintendent and project manager. 

Work undertaken on the project included Traffic management, Type A & J Subgrade works with replacement of unsuitable materials with over 2000m3 rock and Embankment fill. Pavements works to the quantity of 2000m3. Over 10,000m2 of sealing works. Installation of RCBC box culverts & RCP’s. Installation of road signage and finally Rock protection works.

High security clearances and protocols were always followed.

Cedric Archer Park Touch of Paradise Lagoons rehabilitation – Rockhampton Regional Council

Description of project scope:

Cedric Archer Park Touch of Paradise Lagoons rehabilitation was a Rockhampton Regional Council project. The refurbishment of the storm water filtration system via a series of lagoons which drained through to an EPA wetland area. Elements involved in the restoration included culvert and drainage structures, concrete pathways, rock protection works, retaining walls, several bridges including a 43m suspension bridge and landscaping of over 40,00 plants.

The project was operating under an Environmental Authority issued by the Department of Environment and Heritage hence all works were adhering to strict environmental controls.

Capricorn and Leichardt Highway Intersection Upgrade – TMR-Roadtek

Description of project scope:

The project consisted of an intersection upgrade at the Capricorn and Leichardt highway as part of TMR funded project. Bellequip provided almost all plant, machinery and personnel for the project with the only outsourced labour being traffic controllers, Roadtek electrician’s and a Roadtek project manager whom was based offsite predominantly. 

Work undertaken on the project included but not limited to Traffic Management, Type A & B Subgrade, major embankment fill works from major excavation, 4000m3 excavation works. Pavement works, Seal & Asphalt works, cut to fill & cut to spoil.

Installation of RCP pipes, fibre reinforced concrete spoon drain, electrical conduiting, road signage, pipes, curbs and concrete drains. Wrapped up with rock protection works, installation of electrical foundations, lighting poles cables and lights. Stabilisation works on Capricorn highway to rectify pavement failures. Significant quantities of rock was also excavated including in confined excavations (electrical trenching).

With no NCR’s or failures on record,  the Bellequip work crew operating on busy Capricorn highway and Leichardt Highway intersection, managing high volumes of traffic including heavy vehicles.

Gladstone – Benaraby Road Widening – TMR-Roadtek

Gladstone – Benaraby Road

Description of project scope:

The TMR funded project consisted of widening sections of road between Gladstone and Benaraby for road centreline treatment. Basically, Bellequip were contracted to supply a self-managing work crew for the client on schedule of rates per unit item. Work crew consisting of; supervisors, leading hands, labourers, graders, excavators, trucks, water trucks, rollers and associated road construction plant and machinery to complete works on the project to the satisfaction of the client. 

Works completed were approximately 4+ km of road widening, 9 property access upgrades, 14 + slip lanes, Associated culverts and RCP’S. The work crew were operating on busy Gladstone to Benaraby Road with a high volume of traffic to manage
